LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY
Re: ELVIS & NIXON FRAMED TCB ID CARD WITH SIGNATURES
Elvis Presley gold plated “Show Member ID TCB Card” inscribed to Mr. Richard Nixon was purchased from a member of Elvis’ inner circle. This card was removed from Elvis’ upstairs office shortly after his passing August 16, 1977. Due to the sensitively of this transaction , the individual wants to remain anonymous and I will honor that request.
These metal “Show Member ID Cards” were given to members of Elvis’ group for easy access backstage access to performances and hotel locations during his concert tours and Las Vegas engagements. Elvis gave these ID’s to signify that you were a member of his group.
Elvis had this card inscribed to Mr. Nixon as a gift (approximately 1973/74) for a future- in-person between them. Elvis developed a friendship with Mr. Nixon after the now famous December 21, 1970 meeting in the White House Oval Office and it continued until 1975 with personal phone calls between the two. One such call was made at the Long Beach Memorial Hospital when Mr. Nixon was admitted for a medical reason.
Unfortunately, Elvis’ plan never came to fruition due to the events leading up to Mr. Nixon’s resignation and Elvis’ own personal and medical issues. Thus Elvis kept this ID card with other such items in his upstairs office at Graceland.
The black & white photo of Elvis & Nixon is one of twenty-eight taken during that meeting by white house staff photographer. In fact this was the copy of the framed photo that sat on the top corner of Elvis desk at Graceland. Also this is the most requested photos form the National Achieves.
Elvis’ and Mr. Nixon’s autograph was purchased in the mid 1980’s from a company that dealt with political autographs. A client sold both these to them and was signed on very thin tissue type of paper, which I though was rather unique. Elvis signed in black ink, while Mr. Nixon signed in blue ink.
The letter is retyped letter that was written by Elvis to Mr. Nixon by the oval office so the President could read it much easier than the hand written version by Elvis. The response from Mr. Nixon on the visit to Elvis 1971. Both items were acquired through the National Achieves back in the early 1980’s.
Framed in black lacquer over wood with white descriptive plaque.
DOMISTIC AND/OR INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING IS INCLUDED VIA UPS OR FEDEX.
